Underground Elephant’s founder and leader, Jason Kulpa, has a motto: “culture over profit.” This is a company that cultivates of a team-driven, community-oriented atmosphere. It’s a core value. We’ve been at this for a while, and yet we are still amazed every time we win these awards. In 2011 and 2013, we were also named one of the Best Places to Work in San Diego by SDBJ. This year, the American Business Awards honored us with a Gold Stevie for our corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, “Serving those who serve our Community.” Earlier this week, O.C. Record Growth, Year Over Year
In 2014, according to SDBJ, Underground Elephant is San Diego’s 54th fastest-growing private company. From 2012 to 2013, company revenue skyrocketed by nearly 90%–increasing from $24.4M to $44M. This $20M increase–among the highest single-year increase on the entire list–is the result of healthy partnerships and a cohesive company culture, allowing to invest even more in our employees and community. What is equally exciting is that the trend continues, with revenue in 2014 already surpassing last year’s $44M watermark. In 2011, Underground Elephant was the #1 fastest growing private company in San Diego, and #4 in 2012. In 2013, Inc. Magazine also acknowledged our rapid growth, locally and nationally. In fact, Underground Elephant has broken revenue growth records year over year since its inception in 2008–when it made its first $2.4M. All signs point to a continued ability to support culture and community through rapid revenue growth.
