Underground Elephant hosted Shelley Zimmerman, Chief of Police San Diego for the second installment of the “Startup Talks in the Park” series on July 6th. Chief Zimmerman, shared with UE employees what her role as chief looks like, and how she and her team collaborate to protect America’s 8th largest city. Female UE employees were particularly inspired by Chief Zimmerman’s leadership status that breaks stereotypical gender roles.
About Chief Zimmerman:
Chief Shelley Zimmerman was the first female in San Diego to be promoted to Chief of Police on March 4, 2014, and was hired on October 21, 1982, by the San Diego Police Department. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio and is a graduate of The Ohio State University, with a degree in Criminal Justice. She is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, FBINA #241.
